Navy trousers are highly underrated. While khakis predominate summer style, and flannel the same for winter, they are often skipped altogether. However, they're actually perfect year round. Wear them exactly like you would a pair of jeans, although know they will impart significantly more class. You can get them in a mid-weight chino cloth, as shown above, or even in wool for the colder climes. Here they are perfectly at home with a casual yet sharp outfit, one that you could easily have on under a tan, navy or charcoal topcoat, wool cap and gloves. Navy trousers are also a perfect match for almost any color shoe, making them even more versatile in your wardrobe. They go well with a tan corduroy jacket like the one pictured here, a brown or gray wool jacket, or even a darker navy blazer. I finally purchased a new pair navy chinos recently, the very same ones from LL Bean you see above and I've been wearing them almost non-stop.

Couldn't see pairing bit loafers with a corduroy jacket, but still very nice pairings. I seem to wear navy chinos at least 4 days a week. My favorite pair comes from Polo, the 5 pocket Aviator Navy chino jean. I have two pair and get more wear from them than anything else I own. They're unbelievably soft yet durable, and look great rolled or cuffed.
Great post, once again. Even if one doesn´t see the items in real life brought together, i still can picture them...and they really work well together.
Do you own comperable stuff?
Scott, why not? I would pair them with just about everything, much like penny loafers. Glad to hear you're enlightened about the joy of navy trousers, more people need to see the light.
Spoozy, thanks. Yeah, I own similar stuff, all of these posts have been based upon outfits I've actually worn. Until I get a new camera (hopefully for Christmas), it's gotta remain this way.
David,
Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones. Your blog brings a gift with every post and is much appreciated!
Here's my hope that 2011 will be your best year ever.
Best Regards,
