Brooks Brothers Chest Stripe Vest

Brooks Brothers has been absolutely killing it with their latest Spring collection. It's like everyday a new item pops up almost more amazing than the last. I've been mulling it over for a while (not too seriously mind you) about how menswear should bring back the sweater vest. I've got a nice little collection of sweater vests ranging from the traditional tennis patten to simple lambswool and have been considering doing a post on them displaying their versatility. I think they're highly underrated as a menswear piece, so I hope that perhaps more fun and unique vests like this might be able to rejuvenate interest in them on the larger stage.

I've been a proponent sweater vests for awhile now, having collected around 50 - solids, fair isle/intarsia, and argyle. I find them to add great visual interest to an outfit without physically or stylistically weighing you down. I could see myself wearing the BB vest over a polo on the tennis court.

Sweater vests are a bit silly. I blame the late 90s.

@Scott, I completely agree.

@TheEnthusiast, that's the problem I was kind of alluding to, namely your opinion of the garment was stained by some bad judgement calls from the past. Hopefully in the future, great design combined with good timing will get more people open to the possibility of wearing them again.
