With the void that Rugby has left in the world of the young prep/trad/ivy crowd, it was only a matter of time before one of the classic American menswear houses stepped in with a solution. Brooks Brothers has already launched their Flatiron concept in several stores, and now comes along Ovadia & Sons designed J. Press York Street. It has the classic feel and look of J. Press with updated cuts and designs to cater to a younger market. The suits and jackets are Thom Browne short, jeans are worn with everything, and there's t-shirts, actual J. Press t-shirts. Below are some of the items that piqued my interest.

There are as many items out of the entire York Street collection that I dislike as much as I like. Many pieces are impractical, and some are just ugly - specifically the "bandana" tees. Of course I love the cricket sweaters, but I'm especially fond of the green and orange nautical-striped sweaters (the green one, featured second in your post).
I agree, which is part of the reason I put it out there, inquiring if this is what we can expect from our much lauded prep staple brands. Granted what I featured was among the more traditionally acceptable offerings, but a lot of the collection just left me wondering why certain things had been chosen.
I thought the ultra conservative J. Press would have rejected such things as t-shirts and super short jackets. The only thing I can think of is that they realize that the majority of their regular clientele is beginning to age quite a bit and they need to capture the younger crowd's attention if there's any hope for the brand to survive well into the future.
I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.
